Thank you for your ongoing support of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. Whether you have been connected to our work for many years or more recently, I am grateful for the role you play in helping our research move forward.

When I returned to Sydney in 2020 to lead the Institute, I did so with a deep belief in the power of people coming together around a shared purpose.

Many of you may know me as the Institute's Director and CEO, but at heart I am a cardiologist focused on making heart health easier to understand and more accessible to everyone.

As we move through 2026, our focus is on accelerating discovery and translating research into real-world impact. One of our strengths is bringing research and patient care closer together, so new discoveries can move more quickly from the laboratory into practice. This includes progress in earlier diagnosis, more personalised treatments, and research that can improve outcomes for patients and families.

In this edition of The Beat, we wanted to share some of what has been happening across the Institute. You will find stories from our researchers, from people whose lives have been touched by heart disease, and from supporters who help make this work possible.

We are also committed to listening and staying connected. One way we are doing this is through our Ask a Cardiologist series, shared on our social channels, where you are invited to submit the heart health questions that matter most to you and your family.
